Project Engineer, Operations
Long Beach, California (Corporate Headquarters)

Job Description: Envent Corporation, the leading vapor control and water filtration specialist to the petrochemical industry, is looking for a qualified project engineer for our corporate headquarters in Long Beach, California. We are seeking an individual with a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering (preferably electrical, civil, or mechanical) and 2 to 6 years experience working in an industrial setting, preferably in the petrochemical, refinery, or utility industry. Prior experience should be related to environmental compliance, equipment design and operation, or field project management. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to thoughtfully lay out engineered solutions to environmental problems in the industry and ensure projects comply with environmental regulations, agency permits, safety standards, and engineering standards (including metallurgy, material compatibility, electrical safety, and process safety). The job is fast paced and exciting. The position will require the ability to solve complex problems, deal with difficult customers in the petroleum industry, and balance a custom oriented solution in a safe and compliant manner.

Project assignments will include the full gamut of engineering, from new product/service line design; selection and application of existing environmental control solutions to meet customer’s needs; support of field personnel (including troubleshooting); and development of drawings, procedures, and permits necessary to execute projects safely and in full compliance with all regulations. We are looking for an individual with the skill set required to deal with a variety of issues and assist the company’s growth and expansion of both customer-base and depth of services.

Knowledge, Experience, Skill Requirement, and Benefits

  • The Project Engineer, Operations position requires a four-year engineering degree, preferably in the discipline of electrical (industrial automation and PLC experience preferred), mechanical (piping and process systems preferred), or civil (environmental/remediation preferred). Other majors are considered when appropriate industry-related experience is included.
  • 2 to 6 years of experience in an industrial type setting as a plant engineer, contract engineer, or other field-related experience is preferred.
  • Short duration travel will be periodically required to support projects (sometimes in other divisions throughout the United States).
  • Salary will be based on qualified candidate’s experience. Bonus plan is based on safety, company financial performance, and achievement of initiatives assigned.
  • Vacation to be negotiated. Excellent health, dental, and profit sharing plan benefits are standard.
