Challenge
A customer requested our specialty vapor scrubber experience to evaluate controls needed on a sulfuric acid tank. Occasionally, the tank would vent and sulfur dioxide odor would be registered at a nearby school. They restricted operations until a solution could be achieved.

Solution
Envent engineers offered our high flow recirculating scrubber and EMTOS unit. The combination resulted in 100% vapor abatement while allowing operations to commence undisturbed.

Benefit
In addition to the scrubber eliminating the sulfuric acid vapors, our EMTOS thermal oxidizer was used downstream to remove all of the unwanted hydrocarbon vapors. The tank was returned to service much quicker and safer than in the years prior. The nearby school was no longer affected, which is immeasurable for a plant, and operations were no longer restricted for the customer.
